According to an article published in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

“When Timm rushed outside, he was the first to come upon a gruesome sight: a head-on collision between a dump truck and an SUV.

Two adults and two children in the Chevrolet Suburban died as a result of the crash shortly after 9 a.m., said officials with West Hennepin Public Safety, the police department for numerous communities in that part of the county.

The preliminary investigation indicated the SUV was going east on County Road 6 when it crossed the center line into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with the truck, West Hennepin officials said.”

At this point, no one is sure why the SUV crossed the center line, but based on the facts that are available, the driver did not attempt to maneuver in a manner to avoid the oncoming dump truck, as the witnesses to the crash stated that they did not hear the squealing of tires or the slamming of brakes.  Additionally, it appears that the SUV occupants were not wearing seat belts.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

“Shortly before 11 a.m., a delivery truck was parked up Western Avenue across the street for the P-I when in started to roll down the hill towards Elliott Avenue West, building security guard Ben Otteson said. The man ran and jumped into his truck. Trying to stop the vehicle quickly, he jumped in halfway as he tried to stop the truck from hitting traffic.

But the man was unsuccessful and he was hit by a Mayflower moving truck, witnesses said. He suffered serious injuries to his legs.

The Mayflower then veered off the road, striking another vehicle, Otteson said.

The man had to wait until the truck came to a stop on its own, hanging onto the truck and leaving a trail of blood. When the truck came to a stop, the owner of an espresso and catering business ran to help with a first-aid kit, and other witnesses ran to help before emergency crews arrived.”

The truck was being driven by a male. He was heading north on a Virginia state highway when he decided to speed up and pass some cars using the left lane.

Virginia State Police reported that the truck driver was in the left lane as he passed two vehicles.

Once he completed passing the two vehicles, he signaled that he was going to move back into the right lane. But instead, he went off the shoulder of the road and hit the guardrail. This caused his truck to go down an embankment where the truck caught on fire.

The truck’s fire spread to the trailer where the pile of batteries was located. Some of the batteries actually exploded from the exposure to the intense heat.

The truck driver was killed in the accident. He’s been described as a man in his 60’s but his name had not been released pending contact with his family.

The accident caused a back up for miles as the north lane of the highway was closed down. A hazardous material crew had to come out to clean up the accident site and all the remnants of the batteries.

County Deputy Coroner said that the bicycle rider was killed instantly. The name of the rider was not released since officials are still contacting family.

Don W. Beville, 42, was driving the truck. After he had hit the bicyclist he tried to leave the scene, but was stopped by local police. The police discovered that this semi truck had been part of another crash and had left the scene of the crash.

Police reported that someone witnessed the driver of the Nissan truck drinking a beer when he was leaving the first crash. Police were able to connect the two crashes since the victim of the first crash was able to write down the truck’s license plate number and submit it to local police.

After Beville was arrested, his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.30. He did not sustain any injuries from either crash. He has been charged with operating while Intoxicated causing a death, which is a Class B felony charge.

Witnesses say that the Nissan truck was driving at a pretty high speed. Howard took the inside lane and then switched back over to the outside lane hitting the scooter.

Another witness of the crash stated that they heard the crash and when the looked back, they saw a truck that was pushing the scooter. They also said that the two passengers on the scooter went airborne.
Investigation of the scooter shows that the scooter was hit from behind in the auto accident and this caused the two riding to be thrown airborne.

One of the passengers was actually on the hood of the truck and thrown on to the pavement when Howard stopped his truck.

Howard told police that he didn’t see the scooter at all till he hit it. Police examined the scooter and concluded that the scooter taillight was working before it was hit by the truck.

Kaster was taken to the hospital for various injuries. Charles J. Haskell, 18, was a passenger on the scooter and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Howard did not suffer any injuries. He has been charged with a DUI.

Those investigating the accident stated that it was around 1 pm when two pedestrians were walking along the traffic lane on Germantown Road which was near where the construction was being done.

While a construction dump truck was backing up there were two pedestrians behind it. So the truck hit both 74-year-old Yun Shu Li and 78-year-old Xiu Feng Wang. Li was declared dead at the scene of the incident. Wang had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

He is said to be in serious but stable condition.

Police said that even at the time of the accident only construction vehicles were able to pass through.
Officials are still investigating the accident.

No other information has been released including any details pertaining to the driver of the dump truck. It is not clear as to why the two were walking in the area and how they were permitted to enter the construction site area.

The car accident was called into police around 11:45 am on Friday morning. After some preliminary investigation, police believe that Shane may have been hanging out in a local village area. Authorities are canvassing this area hoping to find some clues that will help explain the shot wound.

Shane had to be transported to a local medical center. He has been listed to be in critical condition. This happened on a road in Garden City, GA.

The car was driven by Tacia Carter. This mother of two was driving down the road when she veered into the lane with oncoming traffic. She caught herself in the path of an oncoming tractor trailer that smashed her car.

Carter had to be extricated from the car and then taken by Lifestar helicopter to a local hospital. Police reported that it appeared that she did not have life threatening injuries. Her two kids were in the back seat and strapped into their car seats. They were both not harmed.

The tractor trailer driver, Jeffery Dockery, was also not hurt in the accident.

Captain Benji Selph with Garden City police said “This is definitely a better outcome than we expected. When we got here we expected the worse, but it looks like we are going to be okay with this one.”
It took over an hour to clean up the wreckage.

A 44-year-old man named Paul Vargo was crossing a street in Vegas around 8:30 pm last Sunday night. He was on North Nellis Boulevard crossing from west to east.

He was not at a crosswalk when he was hit by the front of Armando Duenas-Ramos’, 37, pickup truck. Duenas-Ramos was not injured in the accident, but Vargo had to be transported to the University Medical Center Trauma where he lies in critical condition.

Duenas-Ramos was driving south on Nellis in the center lane when he hit Vargo.

The street he was crossing was a four lane street. Duenas-Ramos was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger.

According to local police officials, they need to continue investigating the accident. There has been no mention of any alcohol consumption in relation to this incident.

The California Highway Patrol stated that it was because the truck driver was wearing a seatbelt that he was not killed. Instead the 47-year-old truck drier suffered only minor injuries including multiple lacerations. CHP Officer Sam Morgan stated that “The truck landed on its front end and came to rest on its wheels, which is pretty amazing,” He also said that “It definitely appears that because the truck driver was belted in, that’s why he was able to survive.”

The driver of the car sustained a broken neck and had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. CHP determined that this driver, a 51 -year-old was driving under the influence and so was arrested and charged with a DUI.
