The train wreck last week included a commuter train that many workers rely on for transportation to and from their work.
So, it isn’t surprising that just three days after the train accident that killed 25 and injured 135, commuters were back on board traveling through the San Fernando Valley on Metrolink trains.
But it is not easy for everyone. Art Valles had to take a moment before boarding the train.
He was on his way to downtown Los Angeles with his wife. Valles said as he sat looking out onto the train tracks,”I’m very tense right now. I’m still in shock.”
Felix Lopez is a construction worker. He is sad about the tragic incident but he didn’t have any hesitations getting onto the train. It may have something to do with the fact that…”No disrespect to the tragedy, but I’ve been shot at and stabbed.”
On Monday, there was a 30 percent drop in passengers of the Metrolink. The train that runs from Chatsworth to downtown Los Angeles usually has about 1,350 passenger but only 830 people boarded the train. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa rode the train Monday morning in Chatsworth. He wanted to encourage people to ride the Metrolink trains again.
