Injury News

One motorcycle rider was killed in an accident that involved two other motorcycles and a semi truck.

The motorcycle rider, Stephen Barber, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident last Saturday.  The accident happened just after noon when Phillip Siragusa, 52, was driving east in his 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck

State police trooper reported that Siragusa slowed his speed down as he was approaching the slowed traffic in front of him.  However, Barber coming on the same route did not slow down and instead hit Siragusa’s truck in the back.  It is not certain why Barber did not slow down as he approached the truck.

Barber was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the path of two other motorcycles.  Robert Guidry, 61 and Lenard Dequeant, 59, were driving the other motorcycles.  They hit Barber and caused him his fatal injuries.

Guidry and Dequeant were taken to the hospital for what police report where very minor injuries.

Police reported that Siragusa was not harmed from the crash.  Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident.  However, tests were still conducted and sent to the local police crime lab.  Results of these tests are still pending.
