Motorcycle Accidents

Thursday morning in North Austin on Research Blvd., a motorcycle was hit by a blue GMC truck. The truck was left at the scene, but its driver had apparently fled the area.

When the Austin Police Department arrived on the scene, they found the body of the motorcycle rider on the roadway which was elevated but the motorcycle itself was on its side on the ground below this elevated area. Police are not sure if there were any other vehicles that were part of this fatal motorcycle accident.

Police had to close down both lanes of this busy roadway. The driver of the GMC truck has still not been found.

It is not clear if this would be considered a hit-and-run incident. Further investigation will need to be conducted in order to determine exactly what happened and to determine whether there were others involved besides the motorcyclist and truck driver.

No witnesses to the accident have come forward, but police encourage any assistance from someone that may have been a witness to the incident.
